Cowling fasteners











There are 16 "camlocks" used in total. 10 of these attach to the firewall with aluminium angle section brackets. The brackets are attached to the firewall with 4mm screws. I used M4 by 25 stainless with nyloc nuts. 8-32 aircraft screws would also be fine. The brackets below floor level were a problem as I could not get nuts on them so instead I used 5mm pop rivets. Probably would have been better to do this before the floor?
To position the brackets I held them to the firewall with a little 5 minute epoxy (with the cowl held in its correct position with tape). I then removed the cowl and marked and drilled the holes through the firewall.
