Setting the toe in and fitting spat brackets

The first pic shows the position of the gear attach holes. I positioned the gear legs hard up against the front bolts and ensured that the distance from each axle measured back to the tailwheel was the same.

I used a laser and measured from the laser line to all four bearing surfaces. One axle required a 1mm shim under two of the bolts. Toe in must be zero (axles in line).

The spat brackets I bent in a bench vice fitted with soft jaws. I used a block of wood and hammer to persuade them into the shape you see here. Getting the wheels on and the aircraft back on its wheels was a very satisfying moment!
